The second installment of the year-end look back at my favorite posts of 2013. Here’s a short piece originally posted on June, 26 called:
One Day We Grew Up
There was a time when we didn’t know what self consciousness was.
When we lived for the moment.
We carried no baggage.
Time seemed infinite.
And there was no wall between our lives and our dreams.
Then, one day…
We were aware of how other people looked as us.
It seemed we could read their thoughts.
And what they thought really seemed to matter.
We started closing doors inside ourselves.
We found “the book” and did things by it.
And picked up some burdens we could sling across our backs.
We began to clearly see the place for life and the place for dreams.
But we could barely find time for either.
One day we grew up.
